Garrang Boo Boo Kan (Kangaroo Hunting)
Medium: Acrylic on Linen
Dimensions: 500mm x 1750mm
This is one of my favorites. It tells the story of teaching Kangaroo hunting to the young ones, using dance. It tells the story of the importance of teaching and giving the old to the new.
You will notice that the mother is pictured by the shape of the breasts and behind these, my wife and three children sit watching. Across from them, the older ones watch because they also have an essential roll in raising our young ones.
You can see a lot in this painting/dance. You can see the spray of the dirt from the dance, markings of body paint, seeds, different plants of the area and the many tracks of the hunter and the hunted.
This is a painting that shows if your kind to the earth… it will be kind to you.
